- The Portrait Process -

If possible, Jan prefers to visit your pet or child in person and get to know their personality. At that time Jan will take photographs and discuss your wishes for the portrait. If a visit is not possible, please send as many photos as possible of each pet and/or child. Seperate and/or together.

TIPS ON PHOTOGRAPHY
  • Use 400 Film

  • Tips for dogs
    • Have a helper hold your pen on a leash, close to them, outside in sunlight.
    • Have sun on pet and behind camera, but not in pet's eyes.
    • Sit on ground at eye level 5-6 feet away to photogragh your dog straight on.
    • Fill the lens frame with your pet.
    • The photographer should hold treats and make funny sounds to get your pets ears up and a perky look.
    • Take a few close ups of your pets and several of all of them. If there are multiple pets, please take a few photos of pets together to show size varience.

  • Tips for kitties
    • Keep a camera on hand! - You know kitties are their own cat. so it's best to let them be themselves and wait for a nice relaxed moment.
    • If you're not in a fully lighted area, be sure to use a flash

  • Tips for horses
    • Again, you want the sun on them, but not in their eyes.
    • DO NOT use treats (unless you want giraffe neck).
    • Have a helper get their attention and ears up by possibly walking their horse buddy away from them... or wearing a sheet and acting like a ghost.
    • Again, close ups of the head, eyes, and neck are helpful as well as full body shots.
    • You can never take too many photos!

  • Tips for children
    • Professional photos are the best.
    • However, the more photos the better.
    • You know your child's cutest look!

  • Please let Jan know your favorites!
  • Call if you have any questions, Jan will be happy to help.
  • Jan will send a sketch to confirm design and for approval.
